Police have arraigned manager of a Lagos based Aluminum Company, Rehoboth continental Enterprises, Sule Mathew over an alleged theft.

The defendant was docked on a two- count charge of conspiracy to steal and stealing with others at large before the State Magistrates’ Court , Yaba.

The charge against the defendant stated that Mathew and others now at large, between January 1st, 2021` and December 18, 2023 at No. 268, Lagos Abeokuta Expressway, Pleasure, Agege in the Lagos Magisterial District did conspire together to commit the alleged offence

The charge further stated that Mathew and others now at large on the same date, time and place in the aforementioned Magisterial District did steal cash total sum of One Hundred and Fifty Million Naira (150,000,000) property of one Benjamin Ozor.

The offences, according to the charge are contrary to and punishable under Section 411, 280, and 287 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015

In his submission, counsel to the complainant, Ikechukwu Chiaha and Miss Ureshemi Olorife stated that the defendant, Mathew was a manager at Rehoboth Continental enterprises located at Number 286, Lagos- Abeokuta Expressway, Pleasure bus stop, Ile-Epo, Lagos owned by Benjamin Ozor.

They alleged that it was discovered by the owner of the company, Ozor that Aluminium roofing sheets worth 150, 000, 00 (One hundred and fifty million naira) had been stolen from the company factory.

It was alleged that Mathew conspired with others now at large to steal the said goods.

And the case was reported to the Divisional Police station at Elere, Agege, Lagos where investigations were conducted by the police into the case and thereafter it was charged to court.

Mathew however, pleaded not guilty to the charge, the court after listening to the submission of both parties, granted bail to the defendant at the sum of N20 million and two sureties.

Further hear of the matter has been fixed for February 2, 2024.
