Consistent with his commitment to uplift diligent but indigent and handicapped students from his Local Government Area in Anambra State, renowned philanthropist and community leader, Chief Uzoma Igbonwa, has concluded plans to sponsor another set of seventy (70) indigent and handicapped students for the 2024 academic session in any tertiary institution in the country.

The beneficiaries consist of ten recipients from each of the seven communities in Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State, where Chief Igbonwa hails from.

An accomplished business executive, Chief Igbonwa, for whom true wealth lies in the heart also believes that education can help increase peoples’ earning potentials and social mobility. By gaining new skills and knowledge, an individual’s ability to be hired into relatively well paid jobs, or ability to innovate, increases.

Chief Igbonwa’s commitment to improve the well-being of the less privileged has gained commendable attention and recognition as he was recently conferred with the National Productivity Order of Merit (NPOM) award by the Federal Government. The award is based on the Federal Government’s recognition of Chief Uzoma Igbonwa’s commitment to productivity. Chief Igbonwa was also appointed the Chairman, Anambra State Special Works Programme of the Federal Government of Nigeria.

An illustrious benefactor, Chief Igbonwa, as the President-General of Alor community, conceived and executed the installation of fifty-three(53) units of solar-powered Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras in all the nooks and crannies of Alor community, complemented with a secured digital control station from where the security operatives view real-time the entire community via the Television monitors. With this commendable innovation in community policing, Alor is adjudged one of the most secured communities in the country.
