The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) has revealed that the average price paid by consumer for Premium Motor Spirit (petrol) in the month of April, increased by 1.0 percent year-on-year and -7.3 percent month-on-month to N151.4 in April 2018 from N163.4 in March 2018.

According to the report, the average price also increased by -5.3% month-on-month to N163.4 in March 2018 from N172.5 in February 2018 and 9.6 percent increase month-on-month from N190.9 in January 2018.

The report stated that Kebbi (N163.71), Kogi (N160.79) and Jigawa (N160.46) were states with the highest average price of premium motor spirit (petrol).

“States with the lowest average price of premium motor spirit (petrol) were Plateau (N145.00), Abuja (N144.95) & Bauchi (N144.17).

NBS also stated that the average price paid by  consumers for automotive gas oil (diesel), decreased by 1.00 percent month-on-month and – 10.86% year-on-year to N204.35 in April 2018 from N206.41 in March 2018.

“States with the highest average price of diesel were Taraba (N250.00) Adamawa (N227.50) and Sokoto (N224.00)

States with the lowest average price of diesel were Oyo (N191.28), Delta (N190.77) and Bayelsa (N188.33).

Similarly, the average price per litre paid by consumers for National Household Kerosene, increased by 3.53 percent month-on- month and decreased by -0.82 percent year-on-year to N278.49 in April 2018 from N268.99 in March 2018.

“States with the highest average price per litre of kerosene were Abuja (N316.67), Cross River (N315.56) and Nassarawa (N309.52). States with the lowest average price per litre of kerosene were Akwa Ibom (N247.22), Abia (N245.25) and Katsina (N244.87)

“Average price per gallon paid by consumers for National Household Kerosene increased by 3.45 percent month-on-month and decreased by -15.38 percent year-on-year to N975.82 in April 2018 from N943.27 in March 2018.

“States with the highest average price per gallon of kerosene were Jigawa (N1140.00), Yobe (N1100.00) & Kano (N1068.24).

States with the lowest average price per litre of kerosene were Abia (N900.00), Delta (N875.00) and Rivers (N844.74).

The statistics office also reported that the average price for the refilling of a 5kg cylinder for Liquefied Petroleum Gas (Cooking Gas) decreased by -1.55 percent month-on-month and by -15.24 percent year-on-year to N2,058.19 in April 2018 from N2,090.64 in March 2018.

“States with the highest average price for the refilling of a 5kg cylinder for Liquefied Petroleum Gas (Cooking Gas) were Borno (N2,428.57), Yobe (N2,387.01), and Kogi (N2,207.14). States with the lowest average price for the refilling of a 5kg cylinder for Liquefied Petroleum Gas (Cooking Gas) were Jigawa (N1,812.50), Abuja (N1,800.00) and Ebonyi (N1,783.33).

On the other hand, average price to refill a 12.5kg cylinder for Liquefied Petroleum Gas (Cooking Gas) increased by 0.36 percent month-on-month and decreased by -11.62 percent year-on-year to N4268.95 in April 2018 from to N4,253.73 in March 2018.

“States with the highest average price for the refilling of a 12.5kg cylinder for Liquefied Petroleum Gas (Cooking Gas) were Benue(N5,000.00), Niger(N4,583.33)andImo(N4,571.43).

“States with the lowest average price for the refilling of a 12.5kg cylinder for Liquefied Petroleum Gas (Cooking Gas) were Ogun (N3,966.67), Oyo (N3,947.50) and Lagos(N3,752.94),” stated NBS.
