The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has won two of the three senatorial seats in Akwa Ibom State.

The party has won the Akwa Ibom South senatorial district and Akwa Ibom North East senatorial district. while the APC picked that of the Akwa Ibom North West senatorial district.

The current speaker of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Mr Aniekan Bassey Etim was declared winner by the returning officer of the senatorial district, Prof Enoidem Usoro, having polled 98, 634 votes to beat Dr Emaeyak Ukpong of the APC who came a distant second with 43,294 votes while Mr Usenobong Akpabio of the YPP came third with 39,679 votes and and Leo Enobong of the Labour Party completed the the first four with 20, 548 votes.

Dr Ekong Sampson of the PDP would be the new senator for Akwa Ibom South (Eket) senatorial district having polled 79,327 to beat his APC opponent who scored 33,256 while Dr Ephraim Inyang of the YPP scored 19, 336, and the Labour Party candidates polled 17,760.

Sen Godswill Akpabio of the APC had already been declared winner of the senatorial election in Akwa Ibom North West (Ikot Ekpene) senatorial district having polled 115,401 votes to beat Emmanuel Enoidem of the PDP who managed to score only 69, 839 votes

PDP has also won seven of the 10 federal constituencies of Uyo, Itu, Eket, Etinan, Ikot Abasi, Ukanafun and Oron APC has won onebeing Ikot Ekpene, YPP has won one being Ikono while that of Abak still remains inclusive even as the APC candidate had a clear lead. ENDS
