The National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Debo Ologunagba, has said that the opposition party National Executive Committee ( NEC) would not discuss the appointment of a substantive national chairman in its meeting, today.

Ologunagba, stated while briefing on the outcome of the meeting of the PDP National Caucus, which was held on Wednesday night, in Abuja. Consequently, he noted that acting national chairman, Umar Damagum would continue in that capacity until the next NEC meeting.

The party spokesman, who was responding to a question on the tussle over the chairmanship of the party, said “The Caucus did not consider that, because we consider that at this time there are so many issues involved about the leadership.

“That issue was deferred to the next NEC meeting. So, what we are taking to NEC, is the issue of leadership is not one of those things to be discussed in NEC.

“Umar Damagum continue to be the acting national chairman of the party until the next meeting of NEC, after this NEC. The party considered that not is important to have more consultation on that issue. And what we are going to do is that we as a party must be united.”
