Governors on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) have written off the opposition parties comprising the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Labour Party (LP), New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and others as mushroom parties.

Chairman of the forum and the Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma, gave the verdict on the sidelines of the inauguration of zonal coordinators by the national leadership of the party in Abuja yesterday

According to him, the APC has the edge over them as a ruling party.

The forum promised to support the Federal Government on the implementation of policies that would ensure recovery of the nation’s economy.

Asked to throw more light on the responsibility given to zonal coordinators, Uzodimma said: “We are very delighted and happy that the party in its wisdom introduced this new policy of properly coordinating the party. As you are aware, we, at the Progressive Governors Forum, have a membership of 20 governors which means 20 states currently being governed by APC. We have to start from there to ensure an inclusive participation of all members of our party, and to take this participation to the grassroots, I think that is the wisdom behind this inauguration.

“So, what we are saying now is that we are supporting the Federal Government; we are going to help them to succeed in the implementation of their various policies to recover the nation’s economy.

“We are indeed very glad with our party for this innovation; a very innovative idea and they have involved us as drivers of the programme. I think we are happy at the new development and that is what democracy is all about,” Uzodimma said.

On party men and women running the government and the APC having an edge over other parties, the Imo governor said: “In partisan democracy, the party is supreme, and the government is controlled and managed by the party. That is why the President of the country is the leader of our great party. And the advantage we have better than these mushroom parties is that we are the ruling party.”
