Preparations are in full swing at the Lafia Golf Club as it gears up to host over 200 golfers from across the country for the Captain Inaugural Kitty, scheduled for Saturday, April 20, 2024.

Rev. Fr. Gabriel Ngbea, Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee (LOC), in a statement sent to Sun on Wednesday expressed confidence in the event’s success, describing it as unprecedented in the club’s history. “Everything is in place to welcome golfers from far and wide,” he affirmed.

According to Rev. Fr. Ngbea, the tournament holds significant promise for both Lafia Golf Club and Nasarawa State, placing them firmly on Nigeria’s tourism map. He noted the influx of guests and golfers to the town, which has led to full occupancy in all local hotels. “We are even exploring alternative accommodation options,” he revealed, highlighting the positive impact on the town’s economy.

In addition to its economic impact, the Captain Inaugural Kitty serves as a platform to promote golfing as a sport accessible to people of all ages.

in respect to the tournament’s significance, captain, Arc. John Mlanga, a renowned figure in the golfing community, emphasized the event’s role in officially marking the commencement of his tenure as club captain.

“The response from golfers nationwide has been overwhelming,” he shared, pointing out the fully booked hotels and heightened demand for accommodations.

Arc. Mlanga hailed Lafia Golf Club as one of Nigeria’s premier courses, strategically located in the heart of the North Central region. He emphasized the tournament’s potential to boost not only the hospitality industry but also the overall revenue of Nasarawa State.
