•Voted UEFA Goal of the Week
Victor Osimhen’s superb header for Napoli has scooped the UEFA Champions League Goal of the Week award ahead of Real Madrid’s Kareem Benzema and Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne. It’s the first time the Nigeria International will be winning the prestigious award.
Osimhen’s goal was a beautiful header, he seemed to hang up in the air before nodding the ball past Eintracht Frankfurt goalkeeper as Napoli went on to beat the Bundesliga side 3-0 to reach the Champions League quarterfinal for the first time in history of the club. The forward nodded home superbly from Matteo Politano’s cross deep into stoppage time in the Round of 16 second leg tie. He went on to score the second goal on the night in the second half to take his goal haul in the completion to four and thereafter, was named Man of the Match. The 24-year-old was also nominated for the Player of the Week award, which was won by Manchester City striker, Erling Haaland.
Osimhen’s Napoli will battle Serie A rivals AC Milan next month for a place in the semifinal.
