Benue state Governor, Samuel Ortom has assured the Batch ‘B’ Stream 11 Corps members posted to the state of adequate security, warm reception, acceptance and maximum cooperation in all communities they are posted to within the state.

Ortom who stated this during the NYSC closing ceremony held at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp Wannune, Tarka Local Government Area urged the corps members to respect the traditions, norms as well as customs of their host communities so as to fully enjoy the people’s hospitality.

He reminded them that their places of primary assignment that runs concurrently with community development service is crucial and the most demanding segment of the service year as they are expected to give back their intellectual and humanitarian services to members of their host communities.

While commending the State Coordinator of NYSC in the state, Mrs. Eno Herbert Awakessien and her team as well as other camp officials for their exemplary leadership, the Governor further enjoined the NYSC to continue with its good work of moulding young Nigerian graduates for the past 44 years adding that such strides cannot be regretted.

Earlier in her address, Mrs. Awakessien advised the corps members to demonstrate the good behaviour they received from the camp at their various places of primary assignment

“Be role models to other youths in all nooks and crannies of Benue State by showcasing exemplary conducts in words and actions at all times and places,” she admonished. “Above all, strive and distinguish yourselves among your colleagues by identifying with members of your host communities and their plights, and devise means of bringing succour to them.”
