Chief Canice Moore Chukwugozie Nwachukwu, a member of the House of Representatives representing Orlu, Orsu, and Oru East Federal Constituency of Imo State, has launched the “Health is Wealth” free medical programme for his constituents.
Nwachukwu, also a member of the 6th ECOWAS Parliament, initiated this ongoing project to provide healthcare, including examinations by doctors, medical tests, diagnoses, and treatment, to constituents absolutely free of charge.
The programme was launched on Thursday, May 2nd, 2024, at the Orlu LGA Council Headquarters. Immediately following the launch, doctors, specialists, and medical experts began providing medical attention to constituents from the three LGAs: Orlu, Orsu, and Oru East.
People received a range of treatments, including deworming, dental care, eye checks and treatments (including eyeglasses where needed), malaria and typhoid testing and treatment, blood pressure and blood sugar level management, treatment for colds, coughs, pneumonia, rheumatism, asthma, tuberculosis, hepatitis, and various other conditions.
The medical team, drawn from both within and outside the country, continued their mission on Friday, May 3rd, 2024, at the Oru East LGA Council Headquarters. A large number of people turned out to receive this free medical care from the “man with a heart of gold.”
On Saturday, May 4th, 2024, the programme moved to the Orsu LGA, where the medical team continued to provide free medical attention to the constituents.
A statement released in Abuja by Nwachukwu’s media aide highlighted the peace and unity among the three LGAs and the people’s love for their House of Representatives member. People from all three LGAs came together to receive medical tests and treatment, regardless of their LGA affiliation.
“Wherever the team went, it was all joy, smiles, and a shower of prayers and blessings upon Hon. High Chief Omeogo and the medical team,” the statement said.
The “Health is Wealth” programme was a resounding success, and all glory is given to God Almighty.
