In commemoration of this year’s World Earth Day, “Why Waste It”, Nigeria’s leading fashion waste recycling company, took it’s campaign to some of the areas around Surulere, Lagos.
This year, “Why Waste It” took action with a special campaign titled, “Plastic Out, Tots In”.
The campaign focused on Iponri Estate, Games Village Estate, Lagos and supermarkets along
Bode Thomas.
Members of the The Switch Community engaged residents and shoppers, promoting the use of re-usable tote bags as an alternative to single-use plastic bags through it’s campaign. In practice, they exchanged tot bags with plastics from the customers who came to shop at the market. “Plastic pollution is a critical environmental challenge, and single-use plastic bags are a major contributor,” says Bola Ramos, Founder of “Why Waste It.”
