A group of fruit sellers under the name of Ondo Sanmi Egbe Eleso in Ondo City has held a one-day training to sensitise members of the association on the necessity of hygiene and its impact on the society.

The exercise aimed at adding value to the traders’ sales and well-being, held at Oyato Bakery, Ondo Ife Road, Ondo State on Saturday, April 6.

The group said: “We aim to improve people’s livelihood by reducing wastage in fruits.”

Director of Environmental Department of Ondo West Local Government Area Community Health Workers, Stella Akinsanmi, in her remarks as a guest speaker, cautioned the fruit sellers on negligence and its effects on the sellers and the entire society.

Also, a social activist and head of the Ondo Sanmi Egbe Eleso, Mariam Olamiposi, emphasised the need to hold regular programmes of such to enhance the activities for the betterment of the society.

Community health workers representatives who contributed to the success of the programme included Cecilia Akinwunmi, the Iyaloja of Sabo in Ondo City; Fasan Stephen; the Seriki of Hausas; Ntomic Deborah, task force office; Mofene Market Banana sellers; and Bolarinwa Anifat, the secretary, Egbe Eleso among others.
