From Paul Osuyi, Asaba

Delta chapter of the All Progressive Congress (APC) on Saturday maintained that there was no division within the party in the state, stating that the architect of a purported parallel state executive committee, Dr. Cairo Ojuogboh, has been expelled for various offenses.

Ojuogboh, a former Executive Director of the interim board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), had his expulsion recently ratified by the national leadership of APC.

Addressing journalists in Asaba, Delta State chairman of APC, Elder Omeni Sobotie, said Ojuogboh’s actions were a gross violation of section 21(2), paragraph 2,3,4 of the party constitution, hence his expulsion.

Omeni said Ojuogboh was now lobbying for appointment with the APC-led Federal Government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, noting that the now expelled former party man never worked for the success of APC in the last general elections.

He said the woeful result where APC scored 20 to Labour Party’s 214 and PDP’s 23 in Ojuogboh’s polling unit in Delta State during the presidential election was a testament that he never supported the party.

“In the last elections, Dr. Cairo Ojougboh, we all know worked beside Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa and the PDP. But today he plays to the gallery through vapid tales by moonlight.

“During the campaign of the APC throughout the 25 local government areas of the state, the APC campaign council Director General, Elder Godsday Orubebe, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, myself and the entire team visited at least three mega communities in each local government.

“Wherever we went, leaders from those LGAs who did not set out with us, joined the entourage on agreed campaign grounds.

“But in our campaign to the two Ika LGAs including Agbor township which is Ojougboh’s own community, he never joined us at any point. Meanwhile, through inquiry, we learned he was in town.

“The reason is not far fetched, he was afraid of being seen with us by Dr. Okowa, the former Delta State governor, who was the vice presidential candidate of the PDP, Ojougboh’s kinsman and new found ally,” he said.

Wondering why Ojougboh find it hard to maintain relationship, Sobotie described him as an “embodiment of inconsistencies. His philosophy of life is getting immediate rewards in cash in all that he does.

“And when cash stops flowing he does the disappearing act, only to search for new alliance in fertile grounds. He is never committed to any cause, group interest or long term relationships.

“Hence, he miscalculated in the last elections, through putting his eggs in Dr. Okowa’s political basket. Now, he is left with the short end of the stick because he has no eye on the ultimate, he is always a slave to the immediate.”
