Speaking with newsmen on the sidelines of the programme, Atobatele who is representing Abeokuta State Constituency 1 at the House, said access to good healthcare services has become a huge burden to most Nigerians, hence, his decision to organize the free medical and surgical outreach for his constituents.

He added that the medical outreach was in conjunction with a team of medical volunteers from the United States of America and Commonwealth Foundation, as well as the Precious Sight Foundation, which gave out over 300 recommended glasses and free eye drugs to over 500 people.

According to him, “the medical experts on the ground were to cater for the dental, optical, general body sessions as well as surgeries, having done 2 days pre-screening of the patients, at Lekfad Medical Center in Abeokuta, to determine their fitness for the surgeries. It is indeed a great advantage for the beneficiaries, many of whom could not afford such treatment, as they participated in the health programme”.

In his remarks, a one-time member of the OGHA, Fasiu Bakenne, lauded the lawmaker for using his office to assist people in his constituency and beyond.

At the medical outreach event, people were able to check their health statuses such as hypertension, diabetes, and dental, while surgeries were performed on others with various medical challenges.
