The National Universities Commission (NUC) has given full accreditation to various programmes offered by the Rhema University Nigeria (RUN), Aba.
Following the October/November 2023 accreditation visits by the NUC, full accreditation was given to Medicine and Surgery, Accounting, Banking and Finance, Medical Laboratory Sciences, Human Anatomy, Mass Communication, Biochemistry and Chemistry.
The accreditation of the programmes was made know by Commission in a letter dated June 6, 2024, signed by the acting Director of Accreditation on behalf of the Executive Secretary, Engr. Abraham Chundusu.
The NUC had earlier offered full accreditation to RUN’s Nursing Science Department. That followed the accreditation received from the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria, the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria for Medicine and Surgery as well as the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria for Medical Laboratory Science programme.
The university said: “Following the recent accreditation results, all the programmes of Medicine and Surgery, Nursing Science and Medical Laboratory Science in our College of Medicine and Health Sciences now have full Accreditation.
“According to the Commission, the full accreditation for these programmes has a five-year span after which Rhema University Nigeria, Aba will be up for another round of accreditation visits by the Commission.”
While expressing his happiness for the accreditations, RUN Vice Chancellor, Professor Ogbonnaya Onwudike, remarked that the development would further boost the university’s continuous quest for excellence.
He pledged that “in spite of our lean resources as a result of Nigeria’s harsh economic realities, no effort will be spared in sustaining and upping the standards for which Rhema University received these accreditations, and we are poised to present graduates who will contribute to the development and growth of humanity and society.”
RUN, Aba, opened for admissions 14 years ago when it received the Federal Government’s license to operate as a private universities in the South East of Nigeria.
