The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDS), Commandant General, Dr Ahmed Abubakar Audi, has charged officers to intensify in confronting bandits and bring them to book.

He disclosed that 13 suspected for unlawful possession of explosives illegal arms and ammunition, were arrested recently by the operatives: “I have given marching order to my officers ready to face security challenges in the country. We are going to give them every support, financially and morally.

“The operatives of the corps in the CG’s Special Intelligence Squad arrested 11 suspects in Tebetaba, Southern Ijaw Local Government, Bayelsa State.

“The exhibits recovered are one explosive dynamite, one pump machine, one full park of wielding electrode, two spanners, 11 bolts and knots and five aprons.”

Audi received gadgets donated by Equipping the Needy initiative (ETNI). He said: “The donation demonstrated that security is a collaborative responsibility, both locally and internationally.

“The gadgets will be deployed to community centres for proper and timely information dissemination and surveillance. We will make sure the communication centre as promised will serve as a command and control centre where we will have our national operation.

“The corps is in charge of liberated areas and provides safety and security to internally Displaced Persons (IDPS) camp. The initiative is a leverage on the NSCDC Act 2003 as amended to embark on IDP shelter projects for the needy in four states, Kaduna, Benue, Kogi and Nasarawa.

“There will be construction of a communication command centre that will be domiciled at the corps headquarters to coordinate surveillance. The corps is committed to fight crimes in synergy with sister agencies to the barest minimum. The corps effort is also aimed toward enforcing to fight against vandals.”
