Amid public outcry that trailed the demolition of some structures in the Asokoro District of Abuja, the Arewa Youth Assembly, has encouraged the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (F.C.T), Nyesom Wike, to remain focused in developing the seat of power.

Speaker of the Assembly, Mohammed Salihu Danlami, in a statement yesterday, argued that the pulling down of what he described as ‘illegal structures’ was not targeted at a particular tribe or region.

Danlami said: “Everything he has done since his appointment is to transform Abuja, make it safe, investment friendly, healthy and habitable for all Nigerians irrespective of their religion or ethnic background.

“To pronounce otherwise, is a deliberate, orchestrated and well rehearsed devilish script from those disgruntled individuals who are enemies of the gigantic reforms and well meaning projects brought on board by the Honourable Minister.

“They have tried to distract him and sabotage these projects using several attempts that have all failed and their desperation have led them to hiding behind ethnicity to cause chaos and distracting the Honourable Minister who is tirelessly working to fulfill Mr President’s renewed hope agenda.

“At this juncture, we will not relent, but caution with a strong voice against unguarded and inciteful speeches, those in the act of spreading it should be careful and desist from doing so or face the wrath of the law as their comments are capable of propagating violence and lawlessness in the society.

“Any individual who feels unhappy about the ongoing infrastructural revolution by the Minister should turn to the relevant authority and let the rule of law prevail.

“While we call on the Honourable Minister, Barrister Ezenwo Neysom Wike to ignore all the distractions in whatever forms they might appear and continue to develop Abuja, we urge all Nigerians irrespective of their tribe or religion to stand united behind the Minister and support him in actualizing the dream of transforming Abuja to a model city in the world.”
