Chairman of All Progressive Congress (APC) in Anambra State,  Emeka Ibeh, has debunked speculations that said that chieftains in the party had hijacked the delegates’ lists and bought over members of the state executive of the party.

While briefing newsmen at the weekend in Awka, he said: “Nobody gave anybody money. All that have been trending on social media about corruption in the party are false stories peddled by some people who are not comfortable with Senator Andy Ubah.”

On whether the party was working towards adopting a consensus candidate, Ibeh said it is for the aspirants to decide, but that if the aspirants decide to step down for one person, there must be primary to affirm the candidature of the aspirant.

He said over 5000 delegates were to participate in the primary which has now been shifted to August 26, 2017. 12 aspirants bought forms nomination forms and  were all cleared to contest by the party.

He threw some light on the crisis rocking the state chapter of the party, explaining that it was an issue which was orchestrated by two members who were suspended from the party but who wanted to claim what they were not in the party. He blamed the misunderstanding over the delegates’ list on the fact that some party members still paraded the old delegates’ list used in 2014.
