Niger State Governor Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello of the All Progressive Congress (APC) has won the Niger North Senate election conducted on Saturday, defeating his closest contestant, Alhaji Aliyu Mohammed, of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), with 100,197 votes as against the PDP candidate’s 88,153 vote tally.

The result was announced by the returning officer, Prof Mohammed Usman, at the senatorial headquarters, Kontagora in Kontagora local government area of the state.

The senator representing Niger East Senatorial district, Senator Sani Musa, also the All Progressive Congress (APC) has won his re-election after defeating his closest rival, Isyaku Ibrahim of the People Democratic Party (PDP) with 159,650 votes as against 125,242 votes scored by the PDP Candidate.

The result was announced by the returning officer, Prof Mohammed Shaba, at the senatorial headquarters in Minna, Chanchaga local government area of the state.

As of the time of this report, the result of the Niger South senatorial district is expected as there were a number of irregularities in a number of polling units.
