Some federal lawmakers and staff were among those honoured by the Nigeria French Language Village (NFLV), Badagry in Lagos.

The awardees included Senator Olamilekan Adeola, representing Ogun West Senatorial District in the National Assembly; Hon Sesi Whingah, representing Badagry federal constituency, and his predcessor, Babatunde Hunpe.

Director and Chief Executive Officer, Prof. Lateef Ayeleru, who said the award was organised to honour those who had helped the institution, explained that it was for people in government, private sector and workers in the village.

“If you look at the people we have honoured, we have senior members of ninth and 10th National Assembly, for their contribution to the growth of French Language Village.

“We have Sen. Adeola, Hon Babatunde Hunpe and his successor, Sesi Whingah. They have all provided necessary support relating to the bill establishing the village in the National Assembly in Abuja.

“They have been contributing to the growth of the institution and their contributions to the growth of educational institutions in Nigeria is great.

“The people in private sector and Akran of Badagry have provided conducive environment for the village to thrive,” he said.

Ayeleru said the military and paramilitary officers honoured with Fellow of the Village, assisted the institution by providing security and safe journey at the borders.

“We also need to honour some of our staff who are committed, so that those who are lazy can learn that there is reward for hard work.”

Prof. M. Adesola, the Chairman, Committee on Merit Awards, said the awards covered 2020 to 2022.
