World champion and world record holder, Tobin Amusan Wednesday evening won her 4th national title at the ongoing national athletics trials at the Ogbemudia stadium in Benin City, Edo State.

Fresh from her victory at the 2023 Diamond League in Stockholm Sweden, Amusan blazed to her 4th national title in the 100m hurdles with a time of 12.70s to leave the rest of her contenders far behind.

The trials in Benin City will be used to select Team Nigeria athletes for the 19th World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Hungary.

Earlier in the day, Amusan had used her Facebook wall to woo fans and sports lovers to throng the Stadium to support both the home based and foreign athletes as they jostled for tickets to the Budapest championship.

“I’m thrilled to announce that I’ll be competing this morning at the Nigerian National trials at 9:40am in the 100m hurdles semifinal at the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium, Benin City, Edo State.

From today through July 7th, you have the chance to watch the very best of Nigerian athletes compete live.

As the Athletics Federation of Nigeria makes its final selections for the World Championship in Budapest, I would be happy to see the stadium packed with supporters.
