Towards addressing the pressing challenges being faced by Nigeria, representatives from various ethnic nationalities  would converge on Ibadan today  for  symposium to pave the way for a united and prosperous nation.

The symposium, put together by The Rebirth Group, a socio-political and non-governmental organisation, will hold at the Otunba Subomi Balogun Conference Hall, University of Ibadan.

Prominent groups such as Afenifere, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, MOSOP, the National Youth Council of Ogoni People, the Niger Delta Congress, the Southern Kaduna Peoples Union, and the South West Stakeholders Forum are expected  to be in attendance at the event.

The symposium, titled “From the founding fathers to the prodigal Ssons and daughters: The challenges of nation-building,’ will feature speakers, including political scientist and consultant, Prof. John Ayoade, political activist and former member of the House of Representatives, Prof. Usman Bugaje.

Nigeria’s former military head of state and two-term civilian president, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, has officially endorsed the symposium, on the grounds that its timing is a crucial moment in the nation’s history and political development.

Obasanjo expressed his admiration for the wisdom displayed by The Rebirth Group in organising the event in a signed letter addressed to Deacon Owolabi Oladejo, the coordinator of the group.

The gathering of diverse ethnic nationalities is expected to pave the way for a united and prosperous Nigeria.
