Commissioner of Police, Nasarawa State, Mr. Shehu Umar Nadada has ordered his officers to intensify efforts against criminals after arresting 16 suspected armed robbers, kidnappers, cultists and rapists, rescuing five victims in their hideouts in Lafia.

He vowed: “This year will be too hot for hoodlums. I  have charged my officers to wake up from their slumbers.  I visited some flash points deployed all my tactical teams to flush out the hoodlums. Operatives arrested some suspects while on intelligence patrol along Fadaman Bauna.

“They intercepted three suspects while one escaped. They recovered AK47 rifles and motorcycle, which they used for operations. Another suspected armed robbery in full military camouflage were intercepted at Awe Local Government by soldiers attached to 231 Battalion, Biu, Borno State.

“Police tactial team arrested three suspected kidnappers in Akwanga forest while others escaped and abandoned their pump action, dane gun AK47 rifles and 25 rounds of cartidges. Detectives also arrested some for rape and murder.

“I told my officers to shun corruption, imbibe community policing and respect fundamental human rights. We need the support of the public. We appreciate their support in giving us vital information. This has enabled to achieve our goal by fighting criminals in collaboration with other security agencies including vigilance groups and hunters.

“All the suspects will soon be charged to court.”
