In a press briefing held on Thursday at the Police Command Headquarters in Lafia, Nasarawa State, Commissioner of Police Shehu Umar Nadada highlighted significant achievements in the ongoing battle against crime.

He stated, “Today, I am pleased to showcase some significant achievements recorded by the Command in its relentless fight against crime in Nasarawa State.”

Commissioner Nadada disclosed the successful arrest of a notorious kidnapper, Shagari Ibrahim, responsible for multiple abductions in the state. “Following the successful operation and rescue of the victims… he thereafter confessed to having carried out Kidnapping Operations at Rukubi, Gandu, Kadarko, and Agyaragu.”

Furthermore, the Commissioner highlighted the arrest of Umar Idris for alleged cattle rustling, stating, “The suspect has confessed to being a cattle rustler and stated that it is his major means of getting money.”

The Command also addressed cases of child defilement, with arrests made in several instances. “Responding to the distressing occurrence, the Police Immediately swung into action and got the suspect arrested,” Commissioner Nadada emphasized.

In addition, the Police arrested Victor Jonathan and Stephen Arigu Namo for the alleged rape of minors. “Preliminary investigation revealed that the girls were sent on an errand… where he had unlawful carnal knowledge of them,” stated the Commissioner.

The Command’s efforts in combating armed robbery were highlighted, with arrests made in connection to various incidents. “Upon interrogation, the suspects confessed to the crime,” Commissioner Nadada noted.

Commissioner Nadada expressed gratitude to the public for their support in the fight against crime. “The fight against criminals is continuous; it is in this light that the Police Command expresses its gratitude to members of the public for their support/collaboration,” he reiterated.

The Commissioner emphasized the commitment of the Police Command to ensuring the safety and security of Nasarawa State. “I urge all to continue in order for us to guarantee a safer and secure Nasarawa State,” he urged.

With ongoing investigations and efforts to apprehend other suspects, the Police Command urged continued vigilance from the public. “Investigation is ongoing with a view to arrest the other fleeing suspects and made to face the full wrath of the law,” Commissioner Nadada assured.

Highlighting the importance of collaboration between law enforcement and the community, the Commissioner reiterated the significance of public support. “The Police Command expresses its gratitude to members of the public for their support/collaboration,” he emphasized.

In a final appeal, Commissioner Nadada called for continued support from the public to sustain the momentum in the fight against crime. “I urge all to continue in order for us to guarantee a safer and secure Nasarawa State,” he concluded.
