Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has alleged that Chiroma and Gayam ward in Lafia Local Government Area of Nasarawa State are notorious and mystical wards constantly used to rig elections.

The party called for a review of the two wards and Awe council, claiming they have been used as tools to rig all elections in the state.

In an interview with newsmen, Chairman of the PDP, Francis Orogu, expressed dismay as to why Chiroma and Gayam wards were delayed in collating results when they are situated in Lafia where the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) headquarters is located. He alleged the delay was due to their intention to rig the poll.

When asked if PDP would go to court, Orogu said the party would give INEC the opportunity to correct its mistakes by reviewing the mess it created in connivance with the returning officer, the state government and security agents.

However, he said PDP cannot imagine throwing away their mandate but would go to court if INEC refused to review the results.

In a related development, Director General of the Ombugadu/Ohinoyi media campaign council, Mike Omeri, also expressed his dismay over the alleged manipulation of the people’s mandate in the just concluded gubernatorial election in Nasarawa State.

He claimed Chiroma and Gayam wards have always been used as tools to manipulate election results in the state.

Omeri decried how the two wards have been repeatedly used to allocate figures in favour of the All Progressives Congress, despite the fact that David Ombugadu, the PDP candidate, had won the election by a massive margin.

He also pointed out that INEC needs to investigate the matter and ensure such fraud does not continue in future elections.
