The Nasarawa State Government has partnered with the United State of American experts on special education for a comprehensive school for people living with disability in other to ensure international standard that can sustain the objectives of establishing the school.

Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura who stated this yesterday while receiving the united state of American experts in his office at the government house Lafia, explained that the visit of the American based expert was at the instance of his invitation schedule for an assessment of the project and to get the best of international advice from the team on what technology to be adopted for the learning of the various disabilities children in the school.

According to him, the school which is 100% completed had already been fitted with some facilities, noting that with the visits of the team and their advised on the equipment that can offer the deserving knowledge to the physically challenge, it will not take long for the school to commence full operations before the end of this year when the school might have been commission as expected by the president of Nigeria.

He added that a bill that will give full legislative backing to the school have been submitted to the state house of assembly, adding that Nasarawa state is the only state where where consideration was given to people with disabilities.

Al-Makura emphasizes the need for the Nigerian government to begin considering the need to give attention to people living with disability problem in the society in the interest of inclusiveness.

The governor also received a team of World Bank officials who were in the state for a midterm review workshop of Nigeria REED plus on forest carbon partnership and commended the team for making Nasarawa state their choice for the programme.

He explain that the inclusion of Nasarawa state among the few where the strategy of REDD plus  programme will be put to full test Obi, Wamba and Toto will be fully ready for the intervention
