The Governor of Nasarawa State, Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule, has extended his heartfelt congratulations to the Muslim community in the state as he join his counterparts worldwide in celebrating Eid-el-Kabir.

The festival, which falls on Sunday, June 16, follows the announcement by Saudi Arabia that Saturday, June 15, is Arafat Day.

In his Sallah message sent to reporters on Saturday, Governor Sule emphasized the significance of Eid-el-Kabir as a period of sacrifice and reflection. “The feast of Eid-el-Kabir is a test of faith in commemoration of the sublime submission by Prophet Ibrahim (Peace be upon Him) to the call for sacrifice. This, indeed, symbolizes a call to all Muslims to live a life of selflessness, brotherhood, sacrifice, and adherence to Allah’s commands,” he stated.

The Governor urged the Muslim faithful to use this occasion to reflect on their relationships with God and fellow human beings, promoting righteous living and peaceful coexistence. “I urge us all to continue to preach peace, show love, understanding, tolerance, and good neighborliness amongst ourselves and humanity at large in line with the teachings of our beloved Prophet Muhammad (PBUH),” he added.

Governor Sule also called for prayers for those performing the Holy Pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia, expressing hope for their safe return. “I hope and pray that Almighty Allah will reward their acts of worship and grant them journey mercies as they return home at the end of the pilgrimage,” he said.
