The Nasarawa State Government says incessant strike actions by health workers has truncated health activities in the state giving rise to poor health conditions of the people.
The state’s Deputy Governor, Silas Agara, stated this, on Wednesday, in Lafia, the state capital, during the presentation of supervision vehicles to LGA PHC department, Nasarawa State Primary Healthcare Agency and hospital management board.
He explained that the administration hopes to reverse this trend and do all it can to forestall such ugly events in future, adding that the presentation of the vehicles is to aid supervision of PHC activities to facilitate quality health service delivery to the teeming masses of the state.
“My charge to you is that these vehicles are strictly used for the purpose for which they are intended, failure to comply with this may attract stiff penalty from the state government, proper use of these vehicles will enhance better quality of health service in our primary health facilities as well as general Hospitals, this will in turn attract disbursement of more funds to the state from the world Bank”
He said, supervision is critical to effective and efficient delivery of good health services “the quality of service delivery is a function of the strength of supervision, it is in view of this that the state government in collaboration with the world Bank through the Nigerian state health investment project (NSHIP) in the state supported the procurement of 13 Hilux vehicles (1 for each 13 LGA PHC departments), 3 Hilux vans for the agency and 2 Hilux vans and 1 Toyota hiace bus for the hospital management board ” he said
Speaking earlier, Executive Secretary, Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr. Muhammed Azis, says the provision of the vehicles would enhance proper supervision and inspection of quality health care services in the state.
