Coordinator of ‎National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS),

Zone A Comrade Umar Faruk, has alleged that an aide to Jigawa State

governor was behind the dispute which trailed the recently election in

which he emerged winner.

In an open letter addressed to Governor Mohammed Badaru Abubakar,

Faruk accused the Governor Badaru’s Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on

Students Matters, Ibrahim G. Ibrahim, of fueling crisis after the

election.

The letter was jointly signed ‎by the Chairman Convention Planning

Committee, Mohammed Yusuf , Secretary, Kabiru I. Dalla, convention

Chairman; Sajjad Babayo Ibrahim; Secretary, Mohammed M. Liman and Clerk Abu Sufyan

The letter reads in parts:”The leadership of National Association of

Nigeria Students Zone “A‎” 2017 Zonal Convention Committee is

compelled to write this open letter to you for a number of obvious

reasons, especially as it concerns the unbecoming behaviour of your

SSA on Students Matters Ibrahim G. Ibrahim (Babalolo) at the just

concluded election of NANS Zone A held at Abdussalam Youth Centre

Minna, Niger State.

“Mr. Governor, to set the record straight, I want you to know that

contrary to what you must have been told, Comrade Usman Ayuba did not emerge as the winner to the office of the coordinator of NANS Zone A.

Based on records, he only had 30 votes while Comrade Umar Faruk of IBB University Emerges victorious with 40 votes. Usman Ayuba congratulated and emraced Comrade Umar Faruk after he was officially declared the winner ‎as coordinator of NANS Zone A, a sportsmanship behaviour

expected from a cultured breed.”

However, the letter said that the SSA to governor Badaru who allegedly

distributed money to influence the election claiming that he has ‎the

mandate of the governor and allegedly later led thugs who destroyed

properties at the venue of the elections.

According to the letter, the attack lasted for over three hours

unchallenged until the intervention of the Nigeria Police‎ adding that

the sum of N1,200,000 is needed as compensation to pay for the damage done to properties at the Abdussalam Abubakar Youth Center where the election was held.

“Niger State known for its peaceful atmosphere was thrown into chaos

for this act of gangsterism exhibited by Ibrahim G. Ibrahim, as if

that was not enough, he went ahead to declare Usman Ayuba as factional

coordinator even when th said Usman Ayuba graciously accepted defeat

and congratulated Comrade Faruk Lawal, the winner of the election.”

The letter further informed the governor that his SSA on Students

Matters had allegedly threatened Mohammed Yusuf, the Convention

Chairman and had directed thugs to attack him anywhere they see him.

“We have taken this threat to life seriously‎ and would institute a

legal action soon. Needless to inform you the resolve of Nigerian

Students when pushed against their conscience.

“The inauguration of Comrade Umar Faruk and his Excos is fixed for

30th August 2017 at Jigawa State to further assert his credibility as

the democratically elected Coordinator of NANS Zone ‘A’.”
