The Nigerian Air Force had earlier confirmed that aircraft from a fleet rehearsing for the country’s 58th independence day anniversary had crashed in Abuja.

The Nigerian Air Force(NAF) has announced the death of one of its pilots involved in the crash of a NAF fighter jet in Abuja.

The Director, Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola, who made this known in a statement, however, did not provide the name of the deceased pilot.

Daramola’s brief statement reads:

“It is with a heavy heart that I regretfully announce that one of the pilots who successfully ejected from one of the F-7Ni aircraft that crashed earlier today has passed on. May his soul RIP.

“Additional details on the incident will be communicated later. Thank you‬.”
