The remains of the murdered traditional ruler, Etum Numana, Gambo Makama and his wife have been laid to rest at Gwantu, headquarters of Sanga Local Government Area yesterday.

The burial ceremony, which held at the permanent site of the palace of the Numana Chiefdom, attracted sympathizers from all walks of life.

Gunmen assassinated the royal father, his wife and three others on the night preceding the New Year’s day at his village, Tsaunin Kulere.

In a sermon at the funeral service, President, Southern Kaduna Baptist Conference, Rev Dr Appolos Handa lamented the alarming level at which people have become heartless to the extent of hiring assassins to take the lives of others.

The cleric urged the Numana nation and indeed, Kaduna State to take the incident as an act of God.

He said God had the power to avert the murder of the chief but allowed it to happen due to reasons best known to Him and urged the people to take heart.

Speaking on behalf of other traditional rulers, the Kpop Gwong, Retired Colonel Paul Zakka Wyom recalled the virtues the late Etum Numana was known for which included frankness, hard work and dedication to duty.

While appealing for calm, the Kpop Gwong prayed God to grant the immediate family, Sanga Local Government and Kaduna State government the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
