Northern group under the auspices of Arewa Think Tank has commended the former Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki for footing the medical bills of the ailing Nigerian Actor and Comedian, Mr. John Ibu Okafor.
The former Senate President had through The Abubakar Bukola Saraki (ABS) Foundation donated funds for the treatment of Mr. Ibu who is currently battling with an undisclosed illness.
The Foundation is dedicated to improving the lives of poor Nigerians through a variety of programmes and initiatives.
However, feeling excited over the singular exemplary financial support exhibited by Dr. Saraki for Mr. Ibu regardless of political and ethno-religious consideration, the Arewa Think Tank prayed to God to reward the former Senate President several folds.
This was contained in a statement on Saturday by the Convener of the Arewa Think Tank, Muhammad Alhaji Yakubu.
“We were almost moved to tears when Mr. Ibu had penultimate Wednesday appealed to Nigerians to come to his aide, saying that he does not want his legs to be amputated, following an undisclosed ailment that has befallen him.
“However, our joy knows no bound when we learnt that the former Senate President had intervened financially in helping Mr. Ibu. We therefore, want to commend the former Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki for clearing all the medical expenses of the popular ailing Nigerian Actor, Mr John Okafor, aka Mr Ibu.
“This rare gesture is a hallmark of a patriotic politician who has love for humanity and his country. We therefore urge other Nigerian politicians to emulate the good work of Dr. Bukola Saraki to extend support to Mr. Ibu, a renowned comedic icon who has graced our screens and brought joy and laughter to countless homes over the past four decades.
“We encourage everyone who can to come forward and assist in any capacity, whether it’s through financial contributions, moral support, or prayers. “We wish him a swift and complete recovery.
“It is earnest prayer that the Almighty God will to give Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki the large to help humanity and the country whenever the need arises.
“We at Arewa Think Tank will never shy away from from commending political leaders who exhibit exemplary support for individual and the nation at large.
“In the same vein, we will not run away from criticising and condemning attitudes of political leaders that are capable to causing socio-political crisis and chaos in the country”. The statement said.
