A Mararaba Grade 1 Area Court, Aso Pada, Nasarawa State, on Wednesday granted bail to a 32-year-old motorcyclist in the sum of N200,000 for alleged breach of trust and cheating.

The defendant, Yahaya Adbulyaris of Calvary Road Mararaba, was arraigned on a two-count charge which he pleaded not guilty.
The judge, Albert Maga, ordered the defendant to produce one surety in like sum.

Maga said that the surety must reside within the jurisdiction of the court, submit a recent passport photograph or a National Identity Card.

He adjourned the case till March 18 for further hearing.
Prosecutor Friday Adaji had earlier told the court that the case was reported at Calvary Road Police Station by Abubakar Khadija of Tudun Wada, Mararaba, on March 6.
Adaji said that sometimes in 2014 the complainant bought a Bajaj motorcycle and gave it to the defendant for commercial purpose.
He said the defendant entered into an agreement to remit N10,000 weekly to the complainant but after three weeks he informed her that the motorcycle was stolen.

“The complainant then bought another motorcycle at the rate of N70,000 with an agreement that they will both pay half for it.
“The defendant used the motorcycle for three months, remitted only N5,000 he then damaged the motorcycle and returned it to her in her absence,’’ the prosecutor said.
He added that the defendant ran away to an unknown destination until March 1 when he was seen and arrested.
Adaji said the offence contravened Sections 312 and 322 of the Penal Code.
