The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a man for allegedly beaten his wife to death.

Emmanuel Okpara was alleged to have killed his wife Patience Johnson to death over an undisclosed matter.

Lagos State Police Public Relation Officer (PPRO) SP Benjamin Hundeyin in a statement yesterday,said that Destiny, who claimed to be the son of the deceased woman, reported the matter on Tuesday at Elere Police Division.

The PPRO , said Destiny reported that on Monday, at about 1.40 p.m., he received a phone call that his mother’s husband, allegedly beat her and inflicted injuries on her, leading to her vomiting blood.

Hundeyin, said Destiny rushed to see the mother in the early morning on Tuesday and did not meet his mother’s husband at home.

“Destiny who met his mother writhing in pains, subsequently rushed her to Orile Agege General Hospital, lwhere she was admitted for medical treatment. The mother’s husband was later arrested and detained.

“Unfortunately, at about 7.50 a.m. on Thursday, when the Divisional Police Officer, CSP Smith Olanrewaju visited the hospital to check the victim, the doctor on duty informed him that the woman gave up the ghost at about 6 a.m. on Thursday.

“The corpse would be evacuated to the Mainland General Hospital Mortuary,Yaba, for autopsy. Investigation was ongoing,” he explained.

In a similar incident, one Annah Abhuru came to the police on February 24, at about 9:30pm same day that her son Emmanuel Abhuru, 22, left home to a nearby Barbing Saloon, but later received a phone call from one of her neighbours, Salem that her son was rushed home.

Hundeyin said the deceased boy was rushed home from an hotel vomiting and unconscious and he was rush to Igando General Hospital by his family members, but later confirm dead by the medical doctor.

He, however,said the body of Emmanuel was later brought to the police station by the mother of the victim and some family members. But no mark of violence was seen on him nor strangle.

The deceased was deposited at Mainland General Hospital Mortuary, Yaba,for autopsy, meanwhile, investigation was ongoing on the matter”.
