A 35 year old man identified as Tope Olorunfemi was on Tuesday stoned to death in Akure, the Ondo State capital for alleged reckless driving.

Olorunfemi was allegedly killed with stones by an angry mob who attacked him for allegedly causing a road crash as a result of reckless driving at Ijoka area of the town

However, the state police command disclosed that two suspects who allegedly stoned the deceased have been arrested and detained.

It was learnt that the accidentally allegedly caused by the alleged reckless driving of Olorunfemi led to the death of two persons and two others injured.

It was gathered that the irate mob after stoning Olorunfemi to death also burnt his car.

Confirming the incident the Police Public Relations Officer PPRO for the state police command, Funmi Odunlami said police detectives have arrested two suspects over the ugly incident.

Odunlami said one of the two arrested suspects allegedly masterminded the burning of the decease’s car.

The command’s image maker who said that the suspects would be charged to court for murder and arson, appealed to members of the public not to take laws into their hands.

“We need to see ourselves as one and love each other. We should first see ourselves as human beings before becoming either a commercial motorcyclist, policeman or any other professionals.

“As of now, no one can confirm if the dead young man in question was an internet fraudster as claimed by the mob that attacked him.

“Rather than people around to have helped when the accident happened, some resolved to jungle justice by killing the young man and setting his car ablaze.

“We need to refrain from engaging in jungle justice, shun hearsay and report any incident to nearby police station so that there will be peace in our community,” she said.
