Former Super Eagles safe hands, Peter Rufai, has expressed confidence that Nigeria will overcome Libya in this weekend’s AFCON 2019 qualifiers billed for the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
According to the retired goaltender, he believes the Libyan team do not pose a threat of any kind to the Eagles.
He said that the Super Eagles have the calibre of players to win the game. “As far as football is concerned, both on paper and in action, Libya is not a threat in any way and at any time.
They can go hire themselves a coach from Brazil or Germany or from anywhere but as far as African football is concerned; Libya is not a threat to Nigeria.

“The Eagles team at the moment have the calibre of players that have played on international platforms and are formidable with loads of experience. What is needed against Libya is the right composure, understanding and making sure that the game is not taken for granted, then victory is assured.”
Speaking on the goalkeeping area, Peter Rufai charged the Super Eagles technical adviser, Gernot Rohr to give other goalkeepers a chance to showcase themselves by giving them matches.
“We have got a good goalkeeper in Francis Uzohor, who played at the World Cup and we were quite impressed with his performance, though not the perfect output.
This is a young lad with a long way ahead of him. What is to be done now is to work on his lapses and build him, not only him, his assistants Akpeyi and Ezenwa should also be developed and in no time, Nigeria would be having three solid goalies that would give the coach tough time selecting who would man the post,” he stated.
