The long-awaited findings of the investigation into the untimely death of Sylvester Oromoni Jr. has been reportedly scheduled to be made public on Monday, April 15, 2024.

The family, yesterday, in a terse message, said they are anxious to know the outcome of the inquest after over two years of public outcry and demands for transparency.

The tragic incident occurred on November 30, 2021, when 12-year-old Sylvester Oromoni Jr., a student at Down College in Lagos, passed away due to injuries sustained in an alleged attack by senior students. The sad incident had sparked widespread outrage and increased calls for accountability within Nigeria’s educational institutions.

In response, the Lagos State government promptly closed the school and initiated a coronary inquest to investigate the circumstances surrounding the tragedy. The Oromoni family, supported by Lagos based Human Rights Lawyer, Femi Falana (SAN), has remained dedicated to seeking justice and truth throughout the inquiry.

not only for their son, but also for all victims of negligence within the nation’s educational institutions”.

The family, yesterday, called for national solidarity, urging Nigerians to unite in prayer for them as the nation awaits in anticipation of the inquiry’s findings.

“They hope that the revelations stemming from the inquiry will reveal the true circumstances surrounding Sylvester Jr’s death and will further institute accountability and reforms within Nigeria’s educational system”, a terse statement made available to newsmen in Warri further read.
