Lagos Water Corporation (LWC) has said some residents in the state will suffer water disruption due to the destruction of some pipes and other valuables worth millions of naira by an articulated vehicle.

LWC Managing Director, Muminu Badmus, said this in a statement, yesterday, in Lagos.

Badmus said the incident happened at Ojodu Berger under-bridge, a Lagos suburb. He said it was a major set-back for the corporation, adding that no casualty was recorded.

Badmus, however, noted that the incident had prevented water supply to Ogudu and its environs.

“LWC suffers setback as articulated vehicle damaged water pipes and other valuable assets worth millions of naira. The incident which happened at Ogudu under-bridge recorded no casualty, but damaged water pipe, equipment and other valuable assets supplying water to Ogudu area and its environs.

Badmus assured the residents of the area of quick intervention to prevent further water wastage and a quick restoration of potable water supply to the affected areas.

“Our experienced and dedicated staff have been alerted and sent to the area for timely arrest of the burst and to restore water supply.

“Also, the driver and his vehicle are currently detained at the police station for necessary investigation on the cause of the accident,” Badmus said.

He, however, urged the residents of the state to always report burst pipes, leakages and any act of vandalism to the corporation’s dedicated numbers.
