The Kwara State House of Assembly, yesterday suspended further consideration of 2018 Appropriation Bill, following alleged non implementation of its resolutions on reversal of hike in tuition fee of the state owned polytechnic.
To this end, it had summoned the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Isiaka Gold, the Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Dr Aminat Ahmed and the Special Adviser to the Governor on Tertiary Education, to appear before it at 4.00pm yesterday (Wednesday).
The House had, at its Tuesday sitting, unanimously resolved to give final consideration to the 2018 Appropriation Bill in Wednesday’s sitting.
Reading the resolutions of the Parliament, the Speaker, Dr Ali Ahmad, said the legislature resolved to stand down further consideration of the budget, until the invited government officials, appear before it and give convincing explanation why the resolutions of the House, in respect of payment of tuition fees in Kwara Polytechnic, had not been complied with.
The Speaker, who expressed displeasure over the development, explained that the House had allocated N300 million as subvention to the Polytechnic, in the 2018 budget, to ease its financial challenges.
Dr. Ahmad had said failure to appear before it, at plenary at 4.00pm, yesterday, further consideration of the budget would be suspended until further notice.
Meanwhile, a group  of youths and women admirers  of  President Muhammadu Buhari carried placards seeking his re-election. They stormed the premises of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Ilorin, Kwara State yesterday, to welcome dignitaries to the NTA, Ilorin digital switch over ceremony.
The youths and women, who brandished posters of Buhari for 2019, forced their way into the arena, shouting “ Sai Buhari, Sai Lai.”
‘Buhari for 2019’ posters were also seen in strategic locations within Ilorin metropolis.
The colourful posters were pasted on public structures at Taiwo area, Unity Round About, part of Sango and the popular Post Office Fly Over along Murtala Mohammed Road.
