It was a moment of joy and praises to God at Isanlu, the home town of Right Honourable Leke Abejide, a member of the House of Representatives when he had a thanksgiving service over his re-election to the National Assembly.

Rt. Hon. Abejide, represents Yagba Federal Constituency of Kogi State and he is the Chairman, House Committee on Customs.

This was even as the women group also congratulated and celebrated the Deputy Governorship Candidate of the party, Dr. Idris Omede who just added one year to his age on Sunday, September 10, 2023.

Rt. Hon. Leke Abejide in his Thanksgiving remark, promised to continue to give maximum attention to Women and Youth When He becomes the governor of Kogi State after the November 11,2023 by God’s grace.

State PRO Women Campaign Team/Coordinator, Kogi East Women Campaign team, Mrs Joy Onu, made available to Daily Sun.

According to the statement, at the Isanlu town victory celebration service, women took the center stage as they danced with Honorable Leke, accompanied by his deputy, Dr. Idris Omede and other dignitaries to different top gospel/indigenous music. The highlight of the live musical performance was when the popular Yoruba singer, King Ayinde Wasiu Marshal climbed the podium.

The Leke/Omede General Coordinator, women campaign team, Mrs Ebun Joel said Leke Abejide will lead the state strictly on the tenets of justice and equity, to ensure a peaceful coexistence.

She said that Kogi needs a governor with a strong will and genuine inclination towards development, and that next governor is Leke Abejide, and his government would focus on the welfare of workers and pensioners among others.

“We believe strongly that Elder Leke Abejide will keep to his promise of autonomy to the 21 local councils, to serve the grassroots and curb insecurity in the state if voted into power as the education sector in the state would receive more funding to improve the lives of youths”, she said.

“We are also very convinced beyond reasonable doubt that the Leke/Omede candidacy is on a mission to rescue the people of Kogi from starvation.

“We want to appreciate Elder Abejide for his numerous projects and achievements in his constituency as well as his desire to rescue the state.

Present also at Thanksgiving/Victory service were legions of Christian communities under the umbrella of Christian Association of Nigeria,CAN, Traditional Leaders And Lots of Women Support groups, Women, Youth and Men beneficiaries of Elder Leke’s philanthropist gesture.

He is also the governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for the forthcoming election in Kogi State.

Also in their joyous mood to celebrate Dr. Omede’s birthday, the Women campaign team, headed by Chief Mrs Ebun Joel, who is the State Women General Coordinator noted that the birthday celebrant is a reliable personality who the society can bank on for the coordinated progress of the State.

“It is not surprising that the governorship candidate, Elder Leke Abejide picked him as his deputy to salvage the State together.

“Dr. Omede’s life is defined by service. He is ready to serve this great state. For him, life is about service to humanity. He says he wants to have a solemn moment and reflect on the goodness of GOD in his life on this day of his birthday, while he is quietly thinking and working towards how to take the State to greater heights together with Elder Leke Abejide, as he goes round Kogi East for consultations and meetings with elders of the land towards the November 11,2023 general election.

“We believe strongly that with Leke/Omede combination in the leadership affair of Kogi State, they will lead the state strictly on the tenets of justice and equity, for development and peaceful coexistence”.

According to Mrs Ebun, “As women, we also believe that the Leke/Omede candidacy is on a mission to rescue the people of Kogi State from starvation”.

“We want to use this occasion of Dr. Idris Omede’s birthday to call on the good people of Kogi State to look beyond party and other affiliations and work together to make the State succeed through Leke/Omede as governor and deputy governor respectively”.

“We wish Dr. Idris Omede a happy birthday, prosperous life and many more years of celebration”.

Dr Omede is a former Commissioner of Health in Kogi State, past President of Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), as well as former President, Association of Professional Bodies of Nigeria (APBN), among others.
