The Police in Delta State have arrested four persons in connection to the kidnap of a Naval personnel, Seaman Kola Omoniyi, attached to the Nigerian Navy Engineering College, Sapele, who was abducted, Monday last week, in Sapele.

The suspect, who was trailed to Ebada-Elume Community, in Sapele Local Government Area of Delta State, was picked up by a gallant police team led by the Divisional Police Officer, ‘C’ Division in Asaba, CSP Aniette Eyoh, who was recently transferred from Warri to his current base.

The super cop, it was reliably gathered, had stormed the community alongside his squad with a drone, which they used to captured the area the suspected abductors were hiding before swooping on them.

It was learnt that the raid on the hideout led to the arrest of those who aided and abetted the criminal act.

The raid on the community reportedly prompted the natives, who were under pressure, to ensure the release of the victim.

The kidnap kingpin is said to be on the run, police source disclosed, adding that, “The gallant Police Officer, CSP Eyoh has since handed over the arrested suspects to the Sapele Police Command of the Nigeria Police Force”.

The source also hinted that the rescued Naval Personnel have been moved to the Naval Hospital in Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State, where he is currently receiving medical treatments.

Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Muhammed Mustafa, who confirmed the report, on Saturday afternoon said, “The Police combed the area and the suspects were arrested around Sapele area.

“The Naval Officer is receiving treatment at the Navy Hospital in Effurun. Investigation is still ongoing.”
