The National Directorate of  Employment (NDE) in Kebbi State has kicked off training of 6,250 selected unemployed youths across the 21 local government areas in the state.
Director General of the agency, Dr. Nasiru Mohammed Ladan, who made the disclosure during a press conference in Birnin-Kebbi, said the beneficiaries will be trained in skills acquisition and agriculture business.
Ladan, represented by the Kebbi State Coordinator of NDE, Mohammed A. Zogirma, said the training is part of the mandate given to the agency, to reduce rate of unemployment in the country.
“We are to train 700 unemployed youths in Cosmetology, 300 in others skills, 50 in Advance National Open Apprenticeship Skills (A-NOAS), 50 in Environmental Beautification Training Scheme (EBTS), 50 in Sustainable Agriculture and 50 in Resettlement Loan Scheme, making total of 1,250.
“In addition to these numbers, the Directorate will soon embark on the Basic Business Training (BBT) in all the 21 local government areas in the state for 5,000 youths.

“The aim is to train them to enable them have access to loan facilities from the Central Bank of Nigeria’s (CBN) scheme, which we called NDE/CBN Agric-Business Small and Medium Enterprise Development Scheme.”
