The King Ateke Tom Foundation (KATF) has said it is collaborating with the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), National Orientation Agency (NOA) and National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) to commemorate the 60th birthday of its chairman, King (Dr) Ateke Michael Tom JP, who is the King of Okochiri Kingdom in Okirika LGA, Rivers State.

The Director General (DG) of the Foundation, Innocent Madu made this known while speaking with journalists at the event in Umuahia, Abia State.

Madu said the Resource Persons who will speak at the event are drawn from the experts and the three collaborating bodies, adding that over 1000 persons are expected to attend and participate in the event in honour of His Majesty King Ateke Tom.

The DG said two major activities with separate themes have been arranged to commemorate the 60th birthday anniversary of the Chairman, Board of Trustees (BOT) of KATF.

Madu disclosed that the anniversary which will be held from May 31 to June 2, at Okochri Kingdom Hall, will feature sensitization of youths and members of the public on drug abuse and its negative impacts, with the theme “Breaking Chains, Building Hope, Empowering Communities against Drug abuse”. This he said will come up on the first day.

The second day he said will feature free medical outreach that includes presentations and discussions on common prevalent health issues, preventive measures and healthy lifestyles, and has the theme, “Healthy Living For All, Empowering Communities through Wellness”.

According to Madu, the third day, June 2, is the birthday celebration proper and will feature goodwill messages, refreshments and the Celebrant’s birthday message.

The KATF DG disclosed that various classes of people including top government officials, traditional rulers, and politicians from across the country will be in attendance.
