Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has appealed to the Kingdom of the Netherlands to support the state in its agricultural development.

The governor also wants the Kingdom’s assistance in its resolve to reduce the impacts of climate change in the state.

The governor spoke when he hosted Ms Eva De Wit, First Secretary, Migration, at the Embassy of the Kingdom of Netherlands in Nigeria.

A statement issued by Sanusi Bature Dawakin-Tofa, spokesperson to the Governor, indicated that the Governor appreciated the landmark achievements recorded by the Netherlands in the areas of agriculture and climate change in Europe while expressing willingness to work with them to replicate the same in Kano.

Yusuf listed some of the programmes of his administration designed to refocus the productivity of youths and ensure food security in the state while noting that a total of 24 skills acquisition centres has been reopened to gainfully empower the youths.

Yusuf disclosed that his administratio, in collaboration with the Nigeria Police, has reformed and rehabilitated about 713 youths previously engaged in thuggery activities adding that this has substantially reduced restiveness in the state.

On her part, Ms De Wit who was also accompanied by the Chief of Mission, International Organization for Migration, Mr. Laurent De Boeck pledged to collaborate with the Kano State government in the areas of youth empowerment, food security and climate change.
