Kano State Police Command has clamped down on over 100 suspected fake soldiers, Customs officers, armed robbers, kidnappers and drug dealers.

Commissioner of Police, Mr Mohammed Usaini Gumel, said: “In past five months, we have tackled criminals. Police continually intensified drive for policing and other relevant engagements with concerted intelligence-led operations aimed at enhancing peace and security.

“Operatives arrested 30 suspected armed robbers who specialised in robbing victims of their mobile phones and breaking into houses and shops in different locations like Gwale LGA and Kurma Quarters in Kano.

“Twelve illegal immigrants from Mail and Niger were nabbed for attempted identity crimes. Seven other suspects were in police custody with 46 stolen mobile phones and 21 extra sim cards.

“Operatives arrested seven thugs in connection with unrest in communities in Dala Local Government.

“The unrest was as a result of a clash between thugs in two communities in the area.

“Police arrested over 106 suspects for criminal trespass and looting properties at various locations during the on going demolition exercises. Operatives recovered arms and ammunition.”
