The Kano State Hisbah Board has announced that its next free mass wedding program will include professional groups such as journalists, lawyers, and health workers in the state.

This initiative expands upon the previous program, which benefited approximately 1,800 couples, primarily from underprivileged backgrounds.

Speaking on Thursday, the Commander-General of the Hisbah Board, Aminu Daura, stated that 50 slots have been reserved for journalists and media workers interested in participating in the mass wedding program.

“We have given 50 slots to journalists and other members of the media who are interested in participating in the mass wedding program,” he said.

Daura further announced that legal practitioners and health workers will also be included in the next batch of the program, following the success of the previous exercise.

He emphasized that the mass wedding program aims to promote moral values and reduce immorality among young men and women in society.

Additionally, the Hisbah Board has resolved to establish a Hisbah Academy in collaboration with Bayero University, Kano (BUK), Yusuf Maitama Sule University, Kano (YUMSUK), Sa’adatu Rimi University of Education, and Aminu Kano College of Islamic Legal Studies.

“When established, the Hisbah Academy would be an institution where formal knowledge and skills pertaining to Hisbah work would be taught and certificates would be awarded to its graduates,” Daura explained.
