Kano Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has hinted at the possibility of probing his predecessor, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje over a debt profile of N241 billion.

The new governor spoke at the handover ceremony organized at the Kano Government House Sunday night.

He noted that, “There is nothing we can do as the representative of the state. We can’t refuse to collect what was given to us. We will look at it and where we are satisfied, we will take action and where we are not satisfied, we also take action accordingly”.

“Where are we going to source the sort of money? The state internally generated revenue is nothing to write home about? The money they realize from Kano Internal Revenue Service is nothing to write home about,” he lamented.

Yusuf was also unhappy at the absence of Ganduje at the occasion, saying his absence was a departure from the established tradition of hand- over in the state from 1999 up to 2015.

“In fact, Kwankwaso had then wanted to stay behind for the swearing ceremony. I see no reason why Ganduje could not stay behind and hand over, instead he sent a letter that he wanted to hand over power by 9.00 pm, which we rejected.”

Yusuf observed that he received a very scanty hand- over note from the Ganduje administration, the same way they sent a scanty note to his transition committee.

Speaking at the hand -over meeting, the former Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Usman Alhaji admitted that they were left behind a debt profile of N241.3billion.
