…Senators demand removal of heads of security agencies

A debate is currently ongoing on the floor of the Senate over claims that foreign militias have taken over the security architecture in many parts of the country, especially in states in the North that share borders with other nations.

The federal lawmakers, who took their turns to speak on the state of the security situation, called on President Muhammadu Buhari to remove heads of security agencies or rejig the security council.

They warned that if something urgent was not done, terrorists would soon overrun the country. They also hinted that in some states, militias now administer justice in villages and towns, while traditional rulers have been silenced.
