Former President, Goodluck Jonathan is to chair the Day of tributes for first republic Minister of Aviation, Mbazulike Amechi, scheduled for next week, in Abuja.

A programme of event released by the Funeral Planning Committee, which is chaired by Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, and CID Maduabum, indicated that President Muhammadu Buhari is part of dignitaries expected at the event.

Also expected at the event put together to honour the departed statesman are Vice President Yemi; Senate President, Ahmad Lawn; speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila.

Others expected to grace the occasion are former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, Mr Peter Obi, presidential candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP), All Progressives Congress ( APC) and Labour Party respectively. This is alongside other top government functionaries, captains of industries, high profile politicians and professionals from various walks of life.

Chief Amechi,  who died on November 1, 2022 is to be interred on February 16 in his hometown, Ukpor in Anambra State.

The interment will be preceded by another “Day of Tribute” in his honour, which will be held at  International Convention Center (ICC), Awka, the  Anambra State capital.
