The Jigawa State Government has targeted over 1.3 million children across the state to be immunised against ‎measles in the state.

The state’s director of the programme Dr. Sambo Shehu, dropped the hint, on Thursday, during a one-day sensitisation meeting with media practitioners on 2017 measles vaccination campaign held, in Dutse, the state capital.

He explained that the first batch of the measles vaccinat‎ion exercise will commence in Jigawa on 26th to 30th november while the second batch of the exercise will commence on 2th and end on 7th December this year.

According to him, children from thirteen local governments areas would be immunised in the first batch while the other fourteen local government at the second batch of the exercise.

Sambo maintained that the exercise would be taken to every community across the state and centres including schools, mosques, Churches, traditional ruler’s houses, motor parks, markets and hard-to-reach areas.

He then urged the parents and other stakeholders to present their wards to the nearest centre for immunization against the disease.
